When Spoke Art launched with their Wes Anderson-themed Bad Dads show 8 years ago, it was the perfect debut to put the gallery on the map, right out the gate.  The event has only grown since then, and, back in August of 2016,  a book compiling works from the annual group show was even released as the third volume in the New York Times Wes Anderson collection series.  As evidenced by past years, there is always plenty of material to draw from and be reinterpreted in the auteurs filmography, but this time around the contributing artists will be focusing on one Anderson movie in particular: his latest masterpiece, Isle Of Dogs.

Being hosted as a 3-day pop up exhibit in New York City, the aptly named Isle Of Dogs Art Show brings together over eighty five visual artists of various disciplines (painters, sculptors, print makers) to filter Anderson‘s trademark aesthetic through their very own.  One exciting benefit of the recognition that Spoke has garnered over the years is that this show will not only feature the dozens of pieces by those inspired by the project, but actual sets and puppets from the stop motion film, itself, will also be on display.  The opening reception will be held this Friday, November 9th with its run only lasting throughout the weekend.  It’s a small window, but if you’re able to come through for it, make sure that you do.
