It’s October again and that means that we’re looking forward to exhibitions that are ready to meet the season, whether they be comprised of dark art or visuals that simply align with the somber, yet invigorating tone of autumn. This FridayArch Emeny Arts comes through by unveiling the follow-up to their Darkest Hours exhibition that debuted last year. Described as, “a surreal celebration of artworks directly inspired by the night,” the Philadelphia gallery further elaborates by stating, “From sunset to sunrise, the darkest hours of the day have inspired artists to think on themes of mischievous nocturnal animals, vivid dreams, and adventures led by the light of the moon.” With over two-dozen contributors, the Darkest Hours 2 does what we hope from all group shows, which is to showcase the work of more established names like Wiley Wallace and Sarah Joncas, who we already know and respect, alongside up-and-coming, lesser-known artists that deserve such visibility, effectively projecting them onto our radar. While the exhibition will remain on view until next month, it’s definitely worth hitting up the opening, for those of you that will be in the area or have the ability to be. As a bonus, there will actually be a total of 6 different art shows on display at the gallery for First Friday.
