I was just fucking around on instagram (if you aren’t a shitty band, want to webchat, or are pushing money making and/or fake IG followers schemes, feel free to follow), when a handwritten message popped up from the fairly inactive account of Icelandic songstress, Björk. In it, Ms. Guðmundsdóttir accounces the release of a new album titled Vulnicura, which is, apparently, slated for a March release, as well as a full track list. Here it is, below…

In the 12 minutes that it took before I saw it, the post already racked up around 1,125 likes, so… people are clearly into this.  Admittedly, I’m one of them (I even clicked the heart button and everything).  Included with the letter/image above were the following details.

6 songs written by björk, 2 songs co-written with arca, 1 with john flynn
string arrangements by björk
6 songs produced by björk & arca, 1 by björk & arca & the haxan cloak, 2 by björk
mixed by the haxan cloak except 2 songs
mixed by the haxan cloak and chris elms
mastered by mandy parnell

Hopefully, the mystical and ever innovative vocal anomaly will finally take her show on the road with a legitimate US, and, when/if she does, I’d like to see her finally return to Seattle, this time around.  I actually had the fortune of seeing her perform in 1995, accompanied by Aphex Twin as her backing “band,” but she doesn’t seem too fond of traveling to the region these days.  The closest that I’ve gotten to attending a performance of hers since — aside from the lady and I seriously discussing traveling out to Chicago to catch her and R Kelly — was the screening of her Biophilia Live tour that we did a ticket giveaway for back in October.  When even the video of a live show is that mindblowingly visceral and engaging… let’s just say, there may be a plane trip in our future, after all.

UPDATE:

Our instagram repost of the letter quickly received a “like” from an account called “Vulnicura” that presently, only has 13 followers, including us.  The information for the account is simply a link to Björk‘s official website, and the only post, thus far, is the letter itself.  When one fan inquired “Are you her?” they were met with the following response: “We are Björks publication team with the latest updates on her new album, Vulnicura, set to be released in March.”  You can keep track on development via the Vulnicura instagram page, by clicking HERE.
