We are huge fans of Marc Maron here at the site.  The last time that he came through town, we sent our writer Devon down to cover his performance and wound up with a review that was pushing 3,900 words.  Most people would wonder how you could write that much about this guy, while others might be thinking, “That seems about right.”  Some might be wondering, “Who the fuck is Marc Maron?”  or “Ohhh… is that the guy from that one thing?”  Well folks, the answer is yes, he did make a brief appearance in the 2000 film Almost Famous, just like his good friend Mitch Hedberg (R.I.P).  And yes, he was also on that episode of Louie.   And like the show’s star, Louis CK, Maron is also an incredibly well respected comedian, who has put in over 2 1/2 decades worth of work into his craft, paying his dues, writing, taking a stab at the occasional short-lived TV program, and continuing to pound away at the stand up circuit, before ever obtaining any genuine long-standing success in this business.  Also like CK, he owes a great deal to those struggles and experiences, because they are what provide him with the unique perspective and voice, the potency and the depth that fuel his current work.  Always a more auto-biographical and personal standup by nature, recent years have really shown Maron finding his calling through a classic format merged with a more modern day medium.

Many of you who do know about Marc Maron, do so because of his critically acclaimed WTF? podcast which he first started back in 2009, after the dissolution of his Air America webcast, Breakroom Live with Maron & Seder.  Still operating out of his garage, the twice-weekly podcast features in-depth, revealing, and personal interviews with fellow standups–often his friends–such as Greg Giraldo, Eugene Mirman, Doug Stanhope, Norm Macdonald, Patton Oswalt, David Cross, and Zach Galifiankis, but has extended to include other folks in the entertainment industry like writer/producer/directors Judd Apatow and Kevin Smith; musicians, Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman, Fiona Apple, and Andrew WK; actors, John Hamm (Mad Men) and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad); and This American Life radio host, Ira Glass.  Since it’s inception, WTF? has regularly been positioned as the #1 podcast on iTunes, has been short-listed on various high profile top podcast lists, won Comedy Central‘s 2012 comedy podcast of the year award, and has reached 53 million downloads and counting. Additionally, Marc‘s own scripted television series is currently in production for IFC.

Now Marc Maron is embarking on his “Out of The Garage” comedy standup tour and, thanks to our friends at the Seattle Theatre Group, we’re giving one of you jokers a pair of tickets to catch him live during his stop at Neptune Theatre in Seattle this Friday, March 1st.

Live @ Neptune Theatre
Seattle, Washington

Your job as the entrant is to write a description for some Enchiladas as it might appear on a Mexican restaurant menu.  It can be as absurd or straight forward, low quality or high end as you choose.

Here’s an exaggerated menu listing for some calamari provided as an example:

Succulent farm-raised calamari, lightly doused with organic arrowroot flour and golden fried in a terracotta pot of sizzling West Indian manatee fat.  Served on a steaming bed of diced nopales cactus pads with a rich peppercorn-starfruit chutney dipping sauce on the side.

There is no part 3. That’s all there is to the contest. It’s pretty easy… but you should probably read the fine print.

The Fine Print:

All entries must be received by Wednesday February 27th at 11:59 pm to be eligible.
You can enter as many times as you want, but use a valid email so that we can contact you.
If you sign in with Facebook, make sure that your account can accept a message from us.
Winner will be chosen arbitrarily, based on our personal “favorite.”

If you are not sure that you will be able to attend the show, do not enter! You’d be surprised how often that shit happens and we don’t want these going to waste.

If we are unable to contact the winner in a reasonable amount of time, a new winner will be chosen.

  1. Eccentric and eclectic, this deconstructed enchilada is a real treat. Raw corn, clotted cream, tomato seeds and weapons grade pepper spray round out this south of the border fancy. Served with a Chelada because it sounds the same (send us the bill). Eat your heart out, you filthy animals!
