You might recognize this stoic looking gentleman in the image above.  If so, you still might only be aware of a small percentage of his work.  Perhaps your first thought was, “Oh!  Look, it’s that one guy!  He was on that… show.. or movie I saw once.“  The nerdier types, like myself, probably had a thought that was slightly closer to, “Yes!  It’s Brian Posehn of Mr Show, The Sarah Silverman Show, Just Shoot Me!, The original Comedians of Comedy tour, standup, film, creating his own graphic novel, telling jokes, writing jokes, as a voice on Mission Hill, playing D&D, and constantly wearing metal T-shirts fame!

Brian‘s is one of those standups that’s been at it for a really long time, climbing his way towards a career during a time before there was any Comedy Central or necessarily any real light at the end of the tunnel in the industry.  In the 90s, when the major hope was that you could land that shot in the dark sitcom deal (à la Seinfeld, Ellen, Home Improvment, etc.), the real mother fuckers like Patton Oswalt, Louis C.K., Chris Rock, Marc Maron, Todd Barry, David Cross and, of course, Brian Posehn were actually honing their craft and doing it because it was their passion.  The real focus was on the work and the work is what has, eventually, given them the ability to do what they do now, in a manner that is so seemingly effortless.  It’s also given some of them, like Posehn, ridiculously long and increasingly divergent resumes, from taking the random gigs that presented themselves to such a distinct profession that used to have an even greater limitation of outlets.  It’s no secret that Brian is not only a highly regarded comedian among fans and critics, but his work is also incredibly well respected among his peers.

This Friday, BRIAN POSEHN is filming his latest special in Seattle at the wonderful Neptune Theatre.  There will be 2 shows–one at 8pm and another at 10:30— an Monster Fresh is going to be giving away 5 pair to each!  If you still haven’t made it out to the Neptune since it’s renovation from a Landmark movie theatre, here’s your opportunity; they’ve done a great job with the stained glass and keeping the original feel of the classic architecture. Brian‘s material is crude, real, and direct.  If you are a fan of Jay Leno and/or think Jeff Dunham is hilarious, you might want to sit this one out.

Getting your hands on a pair of tickets is easy.  Scroll down and read the details after the following press release and grainy but hilarious video of Brian at work.

HOW TO ENTER

This one’s easy.  Make sure that you’ve “liked” us on Facebook (widget at bottom of this page) and then, just ask for them in the comment section below.

The show’s coming up fast and there’s a total of 20 tickets (10 pair: 5 for each show) that we need to give away.  Depending on how many request we get, we might just pick people at random –probably with a number generator/randomizer.  We might just fill in the slots easily and, in that case, everyone wins!  But that’s like saying, “If you’re the only entrant, you will win!” and that’s kind of obvious.

WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW

We don’t have a lot of time to fuck around with this one and the tickets will need to be placed on the guest list, so we’re gonna need a valid email to contact you.  If we can’t contact you and confirm in a reasonable time, we have to move on and give your tickets to someone else.

Please give us the name that you want the tickets placed under on the list.

Tell us which show you need tickets for.  The options are either 8pm or 10:30pm.

If you want to post a joke with your entry, it’s not necessary, but it’s welcomed.
[if there are only a few more entries than tickets, this might become a deciding factor in your favor.]

Don’t be a dick!

The concert is this Friday, June 15th 2012 at either 8 or 10:30.  You know when it is and, if you can’t make it or are unsure if you can make it, don’t fucking enter!  Don’t take the spots away from other people that would love to use them.  We’ll have another giveaway at some point and you might as well wait for that one.

Thanks

    Joke:
Three vampires walk into a bar…..
Bartender asks the first vampire what he’ll have, “Um, I’ll have a shot of blood”
Bartender says “one shot of blood coming up”
Bartender asks the second vampire what he’ll have, “Just a pint of blood” says vampire two
    Bartender says, “very well”
Bartender asks the third vampire what he’d like to drink
The third vampire says “you know I would just like a hot water”
Bartender, “hot water? Uh….well OK, are you sure?”
Third vampire pulls out a tampon and says “I’m making tea”
