CONTEST HAS ENDED!
If you thought that the members of Depeche Mode were dead, you were wrong. Dead wrong… but they probably should be (not mentioning the facts that front man, Dave Gahan has made it through heroin addiction, a suicide attempt, a speedball overdose, and a heart attack). Now pushing 50, the members of the most successful electronic band in history embarked on a beyond strenuous 102 show tour in 40 countries, beginning in May of 2009 and wrapping it up this February. Yeah, 102 shows… and that’s still with 17 of them being canceled due to Gahan suffering from a contraction of gastroenteritis and having a tumor removed from his bladder. After selling over 100 million albums, the first of which was released 30yrs ago, Gahan, Martin Gore, and Alex Fletcher have earned more than enough money, fans, and success to retire comfortably… so why haven’t they? I think that the answer to that question is equal parts “because they don’t have to” and “because they just can’t bring themselves to do it“. They’ve been doing this thing since they were mere teenagers and their fanbase remains astronomical. In fact, they are still playing venues like Madison Square Garden and selling out arenas worldwide (Rolling Stones-level shit). What isn’t entirely “astronomical” was the tour itself; misleadingly titled, “Tour of the Universe“, when they never actually left the planet even once!
Now the documentation of the Depeche Mode Tour of the Universe has been released on DVD/CD formats and we’re offering youz bastards a chance to win a prize pack. Peep out the details about the release below and/or scroll to the bottom to find out how to enter. Read the rest of this entry →
