Pantha du Prince (Berlin-based musician and producer Hendrik Weber) is bringing his mesmerizing live show to the US for a handful of rare appearances this May.
He will be performing new material in his new “Triad” lineup, alongside long-time collaborator, NYC-based guitarist Scott Mou (also known as half of Jane alongside Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear, and his solo work as Queens) and Norwegian drummer Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg. The performance will draw upon Weber’s techno sounds layered with Mou’s gauzy guitar textures and Kjeldsberg’s percussion. These will be the only US dates this year, and the first chance to hear new Pantha du Prince material in years, some of which will end up on the new album he’s currently working on.
Over the course of four albums—and as an in-demand remixer of artists ranging from Animal Collective to Philip Glass—Pantha du Prince has long been celebrated for pushing the envelope of electronic music.
Pantha du Prince’s last solo album was the highly acclaimed 2010 Rough Trade LP Black Noise. In its Best New Music review of Black Noise, Pitchfork said, “each track is its own micro sound world with enough rich detail to draw you back for deeper investigation.”
In addition, Weber collaborated with The Bell Laboratory for 2013’s Elements of Light, an ambitious experimental project that found him combining his efforts with percussionists and players of a three-ton bell carillon in a symphony inspired by the likes of Steve Reich, John Cage, and Lamonte Young.
