Win Tickets to Tom Segura Live @ The Moore Theatre [Seattle]

From his TV specials to podcast work, Tom Segura is one of the most hilarious standups working today. Enter to win a pair of tix to see him April 14th @ 10:30pm

Tom Segura is the type of comedian that you can tell has been at it for a while, not because his material feels so incredibly polished, but because it doesn’t feel like “material” at all.  He’s not a flashy character built on gimmicks and never comes across like he’s doing a “schtick.”  He’s more the comedian that you might see and think, “Hey, this guy’s pretty fucking good.  We’ll have to remember his name,” but then you don’t, until, of course, you eventually do.  Maybe someone suggests his work to you and it hits you that he’s “THAT GUY!” and then, word of mouth continues, as you pass the his name onto someone else.  He doesn’t have an “interesting look”  or wacky angle to grab onto; no quick one liners or zany punchlines to repeat to people so that they know who you’re referring to.  In other words, you can’t tell Tom Segura‘s jokes; only Tom Segura can tell Tom Segura‘s jokes.  As his hilarious Netflix special, Mostly Stories implies, Segura is a storyteller who can casually speak to an audience without seeming forced and maintain their full attention throughout.  His pacing and delivery are masterful, feeling both expertly cultivated and entirely organic.  His words evaporate like invisible ink, where all that remains is the general emotion and premise of what he’s delivering.  It feels present… the audience is actually engaged and listening.  He is where he’s at today, because of his dedication to his craft, always getting better and moving forward, rather than burning out fast as some surface level “it guy” running on soon-to-be dated hype.  Over time, he’s built his fanbase and recognition off of pure talent and consistency.  He’s a real comic — the equivalent of hearing a rapper in 2017 that can actually write and spit legitimate bars, it’s not only refreshing, but makes it difficult to listen to anything less, after a while.  Watch one of Tom‘s specials and it will make you so excited about comedy again that you might spend the next couple of hours watching one mediocre special after the next until you realize that it isn’t necessarily standup that’s so great, but Segura that’s so great at it.  He has a unique ability that so many of the greats have — something that should almost be a pre-requisite for what he’s doing — he’s tapped into what makes him genuinely funny as an individual and has been able to then bring that to a stage in front of thousands of people and deliver it unfiltered.  His real magic and his truest skill is that you never even see it.
