have a summah

CONTEST HAS ENDED!  The winner has already been contacted.  Thanks for entering and please be on the lookout for more ticket giveaways coming up.  We have at least 2 more already lined up, not including the one that is currently running for to see Moderat later this month at Neptune Theatre.  Good luck!

It’s summah time folks!  Maybe you’ve jumped in a few lakes already, or chased down an ice cream truck with a crossbow.  Maybe you’ve done yourself some camping, busted out some ridiculous kite tricks, or blown up a raccoon while turning a blind eye to appropriate firework safety.  Perhaps you’ve even peeped out one of the three-million-and-six different music festivals that have become commonplace here in these United States throughout the last decade or so.  Then again, maybe you haven’t been doing anything of leisurely worth with your time, which is a shame in the Northwest, considering how short our summahs actually are out here.  Whether you’ve been mixing it up or not, there’s still some time left and you probably deserve to go out and collect yourself a memorable experience or two, especially one that is unlike anything else that you’ve ever had before.  Have you ever seen a standup comedy show before?  How about one that was actually funy?  Well then, here’s your chance!  Howard Kremer‘s Have A Summah! comedy tour is rolling through Seattle with a bill that includes both Kyle Kinane and Sean Patton.  Swim with a dolphin, climb a tree, get your drink on at a happy hour with a patio, and then finish the night off with some top-notch professional wise-crackers at Neptune Theatre.  Better yet, why not do it for free?  Thanks to the STG Presents, we’ve got a pair of tickets that we have to give to some random goon.  Maybe it’s you!

Ever since the Seattle Theatre Group saved the historic Neptune Theatre, back in 2011, by taking over the lease that Landmark Theatres walked away from and remodeling it into an incredibly solid and much needed mid-size music venue, they’ve done some impressive things with it.  For one reason or another, Seattle has been increasingly lacking in the comedy department, as show after show has begun migrating out of town into Kirkland.  Sure, there’s the occasional big name like Jerry Seinfeld coming through, but those shows appeal to the celebrity hounds more than the hardcore fans of the real gritty club pounding standup.  The Have A Summah tour is just the next great comedy event to hit the Neptune stage this year, following acts like Anthony Jeselnik, and Tracy Morgan.  I first discovered Howard Kremer through his work as the rapping alter-ego, Dragonboy Suede, and Kyle Kinane is the type of performer that you know could have only honed their spot on material through years of slaving away in grimy nightclubs.  Sean Patton, on the other hand, is a new face for us, but after checking out some clips, it’s clear that this show is definitely no joke (pun intended), this lineup is undeniably strong.  Listen, I’m not going to waste any more energy by trying to explain who these jokers are or what they’re like; read their little bios and experience their comedy stylings for yourself, below.

Kyle Kinane

Kyle Kinane has been up and at it for almost half his life, mostly searching for what “it” might be. He has performed in the Leicester, Vancouver, Washington D.C., Portland, Just For Laughs/Chicago and the USCAF/Aspen comedy festivals, and has been on the TV via “Last Call with Carson Daly,” “The Very Funny Show” on TBS, “Live at Gotham,” “Comedy Central Presents” and “The World Stands Up” on the BBC. He was called “bleak and misanthropic” by the London Evening Standard, which he still feels may be a compliment. He is a comedian.

Howard Kremer

Howard Kremer is a comedian best known for his disdain for most pop music and his adoration of summah! After paying his dues as a comic in Austin, Howard was chosen to write and perform in the MTV show Austin Stories. As his rap alter-ego Dragon Boy Suede he has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live and his very own Comedy Central Presents. You can find Howard and his chart keeper Kulap every Wednesday on Earwolf hosting Who Charted?!

Sean Patton

My name is Sean Patton. I am Comedian based in New York and Los Angeles by way of New Orleans. I cut my teeth doing standup in the Crescent city and since have performed at Caroline’s, The Comedy Cellar, Gotham, The Improv, UCBNY, UCBLA, The Melbourne International comedy festival (2011), The Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival (2008, 2010, 2012), and many other clubs around the US and Canada. I made my Basic Cable debut on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham” (2009) and my Network TV debut on “Late night with Jimmy Fallon” (2010). I also recently appeared on “Conan” (2011), an my first half hour special will premier on Comedy Central on 6/21/13. I love doing what I do. Some of you will love it too (thanks!), but some of you will not (thanks for coming) My big plans for the future are to continue sharing my comedy with as many people as possible and to one day fall in love with You. Yes, You, the person reading this bio right now. Don’t worry about breaking my heart because I plan on turning the experience into material anyway. Later!

  1. You gotta have a summah mullet. A summah mullet is when the business up front gets a little bit shorter and the party in the back just goes on forever. A summah mullet can serve as a sundial, with the spikey tips in the front growing straight up towards the summah sun like the needles atop a dessert cactus. When, at last, they point straight up,…you know that it’s time for summah!

  2. If there’s one thing you have to have in summah, it’s a summah excuse. There’s lots of stuff to do in summah: some good, some not so good. The trick is to only do the good stuff, because there’s only so much time for summah fun.

What’s that? You need help moving? Sorry, I told my girlfried we would go blueberry picking. Come again? You want me to go with you to Ikea? No can do, bud… I have to pick up my jet ski from the mechanic.

Remember: seasonal specificity = increased credibility. With pesky favors and unwanted chores out of the way, you will be free to have a grand ‘ol summah!

  3. No summah is complete without some summah sasquatch hunting in the forest of the mighty Pacific Northwest. I don’t mean with a rifle! No, you gotta track that mighty skunk ape by that sweet and stinky summah funk. That summah coat glistening with musk so pungent a teenage yak would wear it to yak prom. Summah yak prom. Smell that, son? That’s the smell of summah. And since you can smell it…you know it’s real. Once you do find that sweet shoe-challenged friend of the forest, tell it to have a good Summah.
