Hitler learns the Halloween Phish Album For Festival 8 [VIDEO]

I just saw this video and actually laughed out loud over it.  I was in the middle of dealing with another post, but I had to drop everything to get this up here now, because:

(A) It’s relevancy is time specific

and

(2) I think people need to see it.

You may have seen the other similar versions of this video with different subtitles related to gaming, football, or even Michael Jackson.  It’s become a growing meme recently, but I feel that this PHISH-related video is still done particularly well.  If you’re curious about the original source footage, it was taken from a 2004 German-Austrian film titled Der Untergang (aka: Downfall).

  1. Once again, classic.

Phish shoulda played Joe’s Garage.. i swear I’ve heard them perform “dong work for yuda” but mabye i was just twisted…

  2. Apparently, the story behind why they didn’t play Joe’s Garage deals with respect for Zappa’s wishes regarding a number of tracks that he never wanted performed live again, some of which were on Joe’s Garage.

  3. That is truly funny stuff there. Laughed hard.

Would it now be inappropriate to go to Fest8 dressed as Hitler?

I’ve heard Trey tease “He Used To Cut The Grass” at Hampton ’97 before. Good stuff. The first show I saw at First Ave, in Mpls MN in April 1992 I swear they were playing part of “Cruisin’ for Burgers” during Runaway Jim in the first set. Blew my mind.

  4. I don’t think that it would be inappropriate at all. I’m Puerto Rican and Jewish and I’m giving you the thumbs up (so that’s worth something). But you can’t be the evil dickhead version, you’d probably need to approach it more as a wacky, bumbling Warner Bros. Adolph.

  5. Dammit. I just watched the Hitler video again, and it was even funnier this time. Fell out of my chair at the Jet Blue part.
